STUDENT AFFORDABLE WEEKEND IN KAMLOOPS DOWNTOWN
Travelling expenses differ for each individual. Some people can only afford to travel on a budget and others can manage a more expensive trip. For our project we decided to focus on university students and how they could plan a vacation or a stopover in downtown Kamloops. With our presentation focusing more on students we figured they are more likely to have less money than the average traveler thus they would be looking for an affordable but memorable vacation. We will look at locations and activities that can provide both affordability and an enjoyable experience for the traveler.
The Plaza Hotel
The reason why we picked Plaza Hotel is because it is at the centre of downtown and it is accessible by foot. The Plaza Hotel offers the City’s best accommodation value with a wide range of complimentary inclusions like free WiFi and The Yoga Loft wellness facilities, discounts at Aina Spa and the Plaza Hotel Liquor Store. The Plaza Hotel is a walking distance to many of the places we picked that people can go to, for example Kelly O’Bryan’s, Sharks. This gives an added advantage as students do not have to spend a lot of money on transportation to move from one place to another.
The Art We Are 
Affordable, local, healthy, vegan, vegetarian and keto dietary options available. Not only is it a picturesque coffee shop; they also showcase some Kamloopian art on their walls. Whilst we were there, we met up with Wolfman Originals who let us know the appeal that The Art We Are has over his creative process.
Kamloops Heritage Railway
For a truly unique Kamloops experience, that is budget friendly, one can visit the Railway Museum. With one of the oldest fleets of steam trains it makes for an exciting excursion.
Riverside Park
This is located at the banks of the Thompson River. There are a number of activities that you can engage in including water sports, a water playground for children, basketball, lawn bowling and tennis. During the summer season, more park activities like Music in the Park by the Rotary Stage, and Ribfest become available, also, authentic local food trucks like Eats Amore and A&D Dogs make their turns around the downtown area. The beach by the park is the best place to go out and enjoy the sunshine.
Sharks Sports Bar and Grill 
For avid sports fans this bar provides large TV’s and sports analysis. A youthful place to hang out with your friends and meet new people while you are sipping on a cocktail, smoking a joint, and or dancing. For student travellers, this may be a unique travel experience in the heart to downtown Kamloops
Denny’s
Affordable Breakfast offered all day. They have friendly staff and is in walking distance from the Plaza Hotel. They offer Milk Shakes in the morning, handmade sandwiches, fresh salads and a much more for low prices.
