Kamloops Art Mural:

The Kamloops back alley art gallery is an intricate connection of art that livens up the back alleys in downtown Kamloops. The art is located in the alleyway between Victoria St. and Seymour St. in the downtown core. There are 29 murals in total that can be found in the alleyways of downtown, each with its own theme and artistic flare. The Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association (KCBIA) has a “Complete Streets Initiative” and the alleyway art murals is a major component of how they plan to complete this program. In addition to improving the state of the back alley’s and livening up downtown, the art murals also supports local artists by allowing them a space to showcase their art and talents.

A few that are looked at in the video are Ken Wells (Sports in the ‘loops), Evan Christian (Leland Hotel), Kelly Wright (Alley Oasis), Alexx Moir-Porteous (The Jaguar Gate), Zach Abney (Saxophone Man), and Robin Hodgson and Jack Morris (JuiceBox 1998). The Kamloops back alley art gallery is a beautiful addition to downtown Kamloops and has many benefits to the local community.

The Art We Are:

The Art We Are is a small café located at 246 Victoria St. in downtown Kamloops. This café is unique to Kamloops since it supports the community and other local, or British Columbia based, businesses. The café does this by only sells locally made artwork, clothing and jewellery. As well, much of its food and beverage supplies are obtained from local businesses.

They are a stunning café with tons to enjoy both visually and appetizing. The inside is covered in beautiful artwork from many different local artists and styles. A few that are looked at in the video are Sheila Beck (Post Cards), Michelle Finlayson (Pottery), and Loops for Loops – Merissa Prior (Crochet).

The food and drink, in its own, make the café amazing with tasty local teas and coffees, and local produce and meats for its selection of food.  This café is highly recommended for anyone wanting to visit the downtown Kamloops art scene.

We wish to thank The Art We Are Cafe for allowing us to film in and use their business in our video.
