Introduction

Ahh, What’s an  classic food that can be brought to any occasion and brings people closer. If you were thinking about chicken wings you are correct! When eating wings, there just no way to be civilised. You might be able to bust out a knife and a fork, but the reality is if you’re with anyone eatings wings, it means you’re good with being your true self.  For me my true self is having dirty hands with sauce and a bring grin for everyone I eat wings with. So now you’re wanting some chicken wings but don’t know the good spots in town . Well you’re in luck the past two months I’ve been going to every place that sells chicken wings, to see which one land in the top three for best wings in town for wings. Enough talking, let’s dig in !

(On this wing hunt I narrowed it down to a few things like price, meat to bone, ratio and flavours for how I rated these establishments )

Pogue Mahone Irish Alehouse:

Pogue Mahone

Pogue Mahone has so much to offer for food but they are commonly known for their wings. Located on 843 Desmond street brock area of Kamloops this establishment has to be one place that has a WIDE VARIETY of flavour of wings, 21 to be exact. To keep this everything fair I tried a dry wing which is was a Salt and pepper which every restaurant that sells wings has. My first Initial look with this wings are the wings are crispy and not overwhelming with flavour smell, with that said they have a good portion of meat to bone ratio. With the first bite, the flavour is on point and not lacking. It kind of reminded me of  kettle cooked chips for crispness. With that being said the inside of the chicken wing is very moist .  At 10 wings to a pound, the sizing was super satisfying. The wings are $5.99+tax plus need to make a purchase with a beer opted in for a mini jug and split it 2 ways which gas a glass and abit between 2 people.

Shark Club Sports Bar & Grill

One of the best, if not thee best Sport bar in town. Like mentioned before when you are going for any occasion sharks got you covered from A-Z. Best Environment as the huge Television screens and always more than one game being on the TV. As for that customer service is always on point when you step in this establishment making sure they go above and beyond for you. Once seated I opted for dry wings Salt and pepper and their flavour they are known for which are Maple bourbon wing. After getting my wings I will say the the smell from the maple bourbon was really strong but it was good smell. So before digging into the wings I could see the wings are really crispy with brown perfectly glazed brown around the edges and  “not very saucy ” as the sauce to meat ratio is key. If the sauce overpowers everything then it just not worth it. Instead it was the ideal amount where you could still taste the meat and sauce. The salt and pepper breading made for an excellent crunch and texture to the skin. The meat on these wings are fair but felt like there was more breading . Also for fat on the wings I didn’t experience one wing where the wing was more fatty than normal. The wings are $5.99+tax which was the best price. By far getting most for your money here with wings and customer service. Plus after eating so much wings its by the river so you can go for a nice walk along the river to digest some of those wings. although it being in downtown you can easily get around town but parking is sometimes a hassle.

McCracken Station Pub

This is one of  those Pubs that go unnoticed as I never knew this existed till I googled this place. Outside looks pretty clean and food was pretty good overall. Sat ourselves in this establishment as it wasn’t busy. Everything is mostly outdated but that didn’t scare us away from tasting the chicken wings. Wings are really good as they are on the soft side not really crispy but very moist inside. Very big as well for the wings with the great flavours like salt and pepper. The salt and pepper is what i would say is like an explosion of salt and pepper flavour with every bite. Not too fatty as well but with that being said they are big wings so there wasn’t as much wings on the plate. This was one of those places with the deal is all week after 8pm and $7 appies. Also being right by the highway turnoff, it’s an easy to get back on the road.

This overall experience on being a food adventure was really nice to see some of the hidden gems of kamloops for chicken wings even though my wallet wasn’t very friendly . After being all around kamloops looking high and low for the best finger licking wings. I would have to say these are my top three choices in town. When you are wanting some chicken wings and not feeling like making some, don’t hesitant to try these places.
