The Heritage Plaza Hotel
The Plaza Hotel is in downtown Kamloops which is always known as the heart of Kamloops. This Hotel has some interesting facts and stories in history. The plaza hotel was built in 1928 and was the only hotel between Vancouver and Alberta.
It is a 5 storey building with 68 rooms equipped with new technology preserving the heritage. Initially, there were only 44 rooms in front half of the building. The images below is the ld picture of the hotel Plaza.

Old Heritage Elevator
Despite of the new technology, this tiny old elevator is preserved since 1928. It moves at 72 feet per minute whereas the upgraded version of elevators rises 1000 feet per minutes in big hotels. It brings us to the old time back into the last century.
The Ghost Stories
According to the staff member, Irene who works at the front desk has heard many different ghost stories from the hotel guests as well as the night audit staff. Even, many servers from the tumbleweed lounge, which is a part of the plaza hotel talks about weird energy in the basement. Many believe this hotel to be haunted!
Basement Tunnels
There are many tunnels in the basement of this hotel which connects the different businesses in town from previous era goes all the way down to the Thompson River.
Amazing Rooftop
The best part of this hotel is the rooftop! It has the panoramic view of the city and has amazing vibe chilling up on the roof at night-time.
Plaza hotel rents out the rooftop for the wedding and birthday parties. Before COVID19, the rooftop was open for the guest to visit between certain time limit to enjoy the view and click some beautiful memories of their stay.
Heritage Room
The heritage room is the spectacular attraction of this hotel. The furniture has rustic look, and the interior is built in an ancient way. It is a honeymoon suite sold at the highest rate. It has a separate bathtub and a shower to make it more romantic for the newly weds as well as for the couples in love!
Blackwell Ballroom
This amazing ballroom is well known for the DJ parties and dance moves. Including birthday parties, receptions and other functions, the ballroom is also rented for the meetings and events.
Before the world pandemic, the plaza hotel used to organize DJ nights on weekends which used to be so fun.
Stores and Spa
The hotel has been upgraded to a bigger level. It has own lounge, nail salon, liquor store and cannabis store all in one.
Every year specially in summer, the plaza hotel is fully booked as it attracts many tourists going to Vancouver or Calgary as well as during the ski seasons due to its prime location. Many tours are also booked at this hotel such as rocky mountaineers, Contiki etc. This whole package of ancient history with the mix of modern technology and resources makes this hotel worth staying!
