Are you a foodie? And love to travel?

If yes, then then this is the perfect place for you to explore.

You may travel to other places with a lot of different cultures as well and enjoy their popular street cuisines, but I bet the flavors won’t compare to those of Indian street food. Every city has a special dish relating to its own unique culture, but there is something unique about Delhi that makes its food one of the most famous street foods all over India.

As Delhi is the capital city of India and thus, is extremely diverse, I bet there is not any food item that you won’t find here, ranging from so many types of snacks such as Samosas to delicious desserts like Gulab Jamun.

But hold on, don’t overeat!  Delhi’s delectable cuisine. Regularly consuming street food and overeating can not only possibly stimulate your taste senses, but also make your stomach unhappy. I would probably recommend making these easy recipes at home and enjoying them with your family.

I’ve found some of the best dishes that you must try if you visit Delhi!

Try some of these popular cuisine dishes on this list in Delhi to release your inner foodie.

So, Let’s start!

CHOLE BHATURE (All-time favorite)

Trust me! You will find the best Chole Bhature only in Delhi!

Chole Bhature is a typical traditional Punjabi breakfast dish that is a combination of spicy Chana Masala, which is a curry made from chickpeas, and Bhature or Puri, a deep-fried fluffy bread made with refined wheat flour that is flattened and then deep-fried to make these fluffy bread, finally making one of my favorite dishes !! As a side dish, it is served with sliced onions, green chilies, and lemon wedges. Also, people like to have lassi with it, which is a sort of buttermilk with Indian style variations. This is usually a very filling dish that will make you want to have a good nap after eating it, making it the best holiday dish for the Delhites!

Places I recommend to try: Giani’s di Hatti in Chandni Chowk, Roshan’s at Karol Bagh, Sita Ram at Paharganj, Nand ke Chole Bhature in Sadar Bazaar, Baba Nagpal Corner in Lajpat Nagar and Chache di Hatti in DU.

LASSI (Indian Style Buttermilk)

Lassi is a traditional, healthy beverage that is cooling, refreshing, and ideal for the hot summer months. It is most popular in the northern parts of India like Delhi and Punjab. No Punjabi dish is complete without a glass full of Lassi and is a staple for breakfast and lunch.

What makes it the best traditional cooling beverage for the summer months is that it has a lot of variations like sweet, salty, masala, and also fruity flavored lassis like mango lassi (my personal favorite) and is very easy to make.

My personal opinion: Try having these in earthen cups. it makes the drink taste much better.

My recommended places: Bille Di Hatti in Kamla Nagar, Aggarwal Lassi in Delhi Cantt, and Amritsari Lassi Wala in Chandani Chowk.

Gol Gappe (The King of Chaats)

Gol Gappe is one of the must-try street snacks in Delhi and is the king of any street food. It is also called Pani Puri or Puchka In some parts of India like Maharashtra. It uses spiced and mashed potato filling and the bowl is also filled with spicy or sweet water according to the customer’s choices.

Tip: Don’t forget to request the extra slice of papdi (papadam) to be dipped in yogurt and saunth (sweet and tangy sauce) to quell the burning.

Hygiene lovers can try these places: Try this at the best food joints in Delhi like Haldirams, Om Sweets, or Bikano.

Raj Kachori

The Raj Kachori is made from a mixture of all-purpose flour, semolina, and gram flour. The word “Raj” means “Royal” in Hindi and what makes this dish so royal is its perfect blend of Spices, Chutneys, and Dahi (yogurt). This is one of my favorite tasty holiday snacks which is healthy at the same time.

Raj kachori is appropriately referred to as the king of all kachoris or a king-sized kachori since it is magnificent, royal, and a dish filled with rich flavors.

My recommended places to try: Haldirams (any branch) for a cleaner option, Kaleva (any branch), Prince’s Paan and Chaat Corner in Greater Kailash, and Nathu Sweets in Laxmi Nagar.
