Have you ever felt confused looking at those sophisticated artworks exhibited inside of galleries? Have you ever felt a bit disconnected to the real world once you step foot into an exhibit and wishing for a bit of fresh air while you enjoy the artwork you love? If so, Luminocity is just the event for you. Unique and open-spaced exhibit, held once every two years, Luminocity has become a new form of art and artistic experience, promising to bring new taste and look into the art tourism scene of Kamloops.

Differently from the still art exhibits we are so used to, Luminocity takes a different approach in helping viewers blend in and immerse themselves into the artworks, offers the audience the chance to become one with the art inside of standing outside looking in. This year’s Luminocity lit up the entire space of Riverside Park, downtown Kamloops with its bright and vibrant colors. Taking place from Oct 23rd to Oct 31st, Luminocity appealed to many art lovers who were excited to try a different type of art experience.

One of the most popular art spots of this year is the centerpiece called “Cinerorama” by Levi Glass. In order to enjoy this work perfectly, the audience should take the opportunity to go inside the projection room and immerse themselves into the street scene happening. With screens surrounding, the audience can look at the artwork with 360-degree vision, each corner is a different kind of life going on. It drew a lot of attention from many viewers who were willing to wait in the cold for a bit of immersive experience.

Catching up with the time, Luminocity offers the audience the chance to infuse technology with traditional art pieces. Paintings are now live and moving in front of the audience. Portraits are now interacting with the audience instead of being still. Every aspect of Luminocity speaks volumes about the efforts that Kamloops Art Gallery put in to make sure the event was appealing to all ages coming to the event.

With Luminocity, it is hoped that a new art experience will be brought into the tourism scene of Kamloops, attracting more and more visitors to the city and enjoy the art like they never have before.
